OXFORD ACPIN PRESENTS

Part 1

“Neurologic Music Therapy: an introduction to techniques, joint-working, and integrating music into practice”

Speaker

Elizabeth Nightingale, Neurologic Music Therapist

Chiltern is an award-winning not-for-profit organisation that specializes in Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT). Our Neuro and Medical Services are offered to clients who have suffered a brain injury or been diagnosed with a neuro-disability. We provide support across the full pathway of care, working in inpatient and rehabilitation settings as well as in the community and at home. We regularly work jointly across MDTs with physios, OTs and speech & language therapists as well as alongside several case management and legal teams in medicolegal cases. However, these specialist services are also available to anyone, including child and adult patients. This talk will cover a brief introduction to Neurologic Music Therapy before focusing on how music and principles from NMT can be integrated into other therapy disciplines to support sensorimotor training, and positively impact patient mood, endurance and motor outcomes. This will be supported by brief case studies of both live and virtual work.

Part 2 will be an interactive discussion session on ideas for implementation and be held on Tuesday 11th August at 1900.  To sign up for Part 2 please click here.

This is a free online event however, we would welcome donations for Chiltern Music Therapy: https://localgiving.org/charity/chilternmusictherapy/
