Presenter Bio:
Charikleia is a Chartered Physiotherapist with experience in Greece and the NHS, specialising in supporting individuals with neuro disabilities. She holds an MSc in Neurorehabilitation and a PhD on children with Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), funded by the State Foundation of Scholarships (Greece). She has worked as a Senior Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University and Leeds Beckett University and is currently a Senior Lecturer at York St John University.
She has led the Yorkshire CAHPR since 2005 and, since 2023, has served as the Consortium Lead for Yorkshire and the Humber CAHPR. In 2024, she became a member of CAHPR’s oversight committee. Her research focuses on children, adolescents, and adults with Cerebral Palsy and DCD (also known as dyspraxia). Her work has been published in leading journals such as Research in Developmental Disabilities, Physiotherapy, Plos One, Advances in Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Brain and Behaviour, Journal of Physiotherapy in Mental Health, and she has presented her research at numerous national and international conferences.
Charikleia has organised several conferences and workshops and serves as a grant theme advisor, as well as a reviewer for grants, journals, books, and conferences. In 2021, she was appointed a member of the abstract moderator group for Physiotherapy UK, and in 2023, she chaired the abstract moderation group. She currently holds, and has previously held, external examiner roles at universities in both the UK and Greece. She is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
