The intensity of rehabilitation delivered in routine practice doesn’t always meet clinical guidelines. For example, the evidence base for stroke rehabilitation recommends intensive and repetitive task-specific practice, as well as aerobic exercise. However, translating these evidence-based interventions from research into clinical practice remains a major challenge.
This seminar will use stroke rehabilitation as an example to focus on the factors influencing delivery of a higher-intensity intervention, from both the patient and therapist perspective. It will also describe the practical implications, encouraging clinicians to think about how they could make changes that are relevant to their own practice and setting.
Followed by 3 presentations from 3 clinicians’ experience of implementing evidence in practice:
• Anita Cahalin on Community Exercise
• Anna Ziemer on Falls Prevention Course for community dwelling adults with neurological conditions.
• Susan Pattison on Hydrotherapy Bolton Neuro Voices Project
4.30 pm registration, 5.00 – 7.00 pm presentations and discussion.
FREEEvent – Please book by Monday 1 July 2019 (66 places available)
