GripAble: New technology for Upper Limb Rehab

Dr Paul Rinne and Michelle Broderick – 

Will introduce the concept and potential of the device and discuss the clinical application and current research. A demonstration of the device and a chance to use it in small groups.

GripAble is a simple handheld device for upper limb rehabilitation that patients can use independently, with their therapist, or even with other patients, friends and family. It works with an app supporting motivating games and activities to facilitate hand and wrist function.

This afternoon workshop with comprise:

  • Presentation on the concept, development and potential of the device by Dr Paul Rinne (cofounder and designer)
  • Discussion of the clinical application and current research projects by Michelle Broderick
    (Clinical Research Therapist in Stroke, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust)
  • Followed by a demonstration and opportunity to use the device in small groups with other
    workshop participants and patients
