• To be able to complete an observational gait analysis with reference to kinematic and kinetic features of gait.
• To be able to plan a hypothesis-led objective assessment based on observed gait dysfunction.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course the participant should be able to:
• Describe the kinematics and kinetics of normal gait
• Identify deviations from normal gait and normal balance strategies in a neurological patient
• Interpret the results of observational gait analysis to hypothesise impairment level causes of the gait dysfunction
• Formulate a focused neurological assessment to test the impairment level hypotheses
• Formulate a treatment plan based on a movement-science approach to neurological rehabilitation to maximise gait and balance function
Lecturer:
Ben Ellis
Is a Lecturer in Physiotherapy at Oxford Brookes University. His clinical background is in neurological rehabilitation and long term condition management. He specialises in the movement science approach to neurological rehabilitation and implementation of evidence into practice. He was until recently an ACPIN Board Member.
